Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
ATLAS: The glory days
The sale of the Atlas sawmill site brings back memories of tug boats, log booms, eight sawmills from Potlatch, now a golf course, to Post Falls. Years ago, people came here to work, now they come here to play.
SUPER 1: The title fits
Excellent article in last Thursday’s paper, as usual by Sholeh Patrick, about my favorite store, Super 1, and it lives up to its name. You don’t need “a card” to buy stuff, you just show up, shop, get in line, visi…
HAMMURABI: He'd be insulted
I take serious exception to the ridiculous assertion made by Mr. James Crowe in his letter to The Press of April 18. In no way can the Law Codes of Hammurabi be understood as building codes. His codex refers to aft…
MODERATES: Not welcome here
Bob Bingham should not be re-elected as a Kootenai County Commissioner. On May 15, 2018, Republican voters should choose another nominee to be our District 3 Kootenai County Commissioner candidate.
SCHOOLS: Safety first
I took part in Active Shooter Training at one of our elementary schools Friday. It was provided by the Rathdrum Police Department and the Lakeland School District. I want to thank our forward-looking community for …
BULLIES: Take that!
Enough IS Enough. The CHILDREN have spoken. They demand a ban. Their scripts have been heard.
BUILDING: A special invite

I have been observing the development of building codes here in Kootenai County and frankly I am disappointed the majority of commissioners voted to allow owners of land in the county to avoid building under any bu…
911: Anybody home?
Our family is upset about the response of Coeur d’Alene 911 call center. My granddaughter works as a hairdresser in a salon close to a homeless shelter. On Wednesday, March 21st she was working late with a client w…
PRESS: Beware bias traps
I personally believe in the need and the intent of the mainstream media to be factual. I consider the Coeur d’Alene Press to be a locally oriented mainstream media outlet. We may not agree on issues but generally t…
BAJA: Our 51st state?
When The United States took Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California from Mexico, we immediately made every Mexican living on that land an American citizen. Organizations like La Raza, “The Race” — a Mexican versi…
