OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
RESPONSE: Liberal applies double standard
I would hope that Jimmy Pappas read Mr. Membury's excellent letter. While Pappas condemns Sarah Palin for making money with bestselling books and television work, his hero's methods of getting wealth are condoned b…
TEA PARTY: What it is - and isn't
I found the letter from Mr. Tom Blaschka quite comical. He is under the impression that the Tea Party is "willing to borrow billions from China so the wealthy can have extended tax breaks." He wants to hear from th…
McEUEN: Voters will have no say
It's coming, but then we knew it would. When it was announced that the mayor was having a group look into the McEuen Field use we knew she meant to get rid of legion baseball. It's been her goal for many years. Wit…
COLUMN: Wisdom, education not same
While a humorous quip (that I want to replace "... public school with Sunday school") to a quote I used as a part of my response of a recent My Turn piece by Mr. Ruskovich (Voters: We don't need no education), it s…
WARMING: On a wing and prayer
While I respect Cliff Harris' rights to an opinion, I also remember the proverb, "Everyone's entitled to their own opinions but no one has the right to their own facts." Mr. Harris claims, "The evidence is clear (t…
ARTICLE: Better to feature Stone
The article "Werner Koester: War Pilot Remembers" written by Bill Buley and appearing in the Dec. 19 Lifestyles section of The Press really falls short and inadequately describes the defining event of the 20th cent…
TRAFFIC: Simple safety steps needed
How, oh how many more tragic, senseless deaths must occur on I-90 between stateline and Coeur d'Alene before the Idaho DOT decides to take action? Installing steel posts and safety wire between east and west bound …
LEVY: Music to this voter's ears
When this next levy comes our way, I know how I will be voting.
DON'T ASK: It was good policy
Regarding the president rescinding "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" - I think they are making a big mistake. The liberals who pushed for this don't understand the minds of military men. As a veteran, I know that this will r…
UNINVITED: Sound advice requested
Why does the death of a loved one always bring out the worst judgment in people? Within one hour of my Dad passing away in his home, the family was waiting for the ambulance to come to take him away for the last ti…
LAWYERS: High price for justice
Opening the paper recently I read with disdain (I admit it) the article justifying the city's legal costs. Honestly, I don't blame Mike or the Sanders Beach residents or anyone else that needs help with disputes. T…
EAGLES: Cruises offer best views
I haven't seen anything at all in your paper about the Eagle Cruises out of the Coeur d'Alene Resort. I had the pleasure of taking two of the cruises recently and saw between 150 and 200 of these beautiful birds on…
PAPPAS: Ah, now I get it
I am writing to admit I was wrong. On May 1, 2010, the Press published my column in which I expressed the opinion that the load of BS Jimmy Pappas provided on April 23, 2010, was not due to idiocy or profound ignor…
OINK! Prairie Pig gratitude
I would like to thank everyone in the Post Falls community for helping Post Falls High School to raise over seven thousand pounds of food for the food bank. This is an all-time record for our school's Prairie Pig f…
STAND: Reader's courage applauded
After reading "Taking a stand," Mrs. Boteo, I am so proud of you! When it seems we cannot take direct action, it feels good to let the banks know that the people who need them most are being stomped on by heartless…
