OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
RECALL: Effort isn't justified
This recall may be a right of the people, but it is an inappropriate use of a right that should be reserved for proven corruption and unethical behavior (not insinuated corruption based on opinion). As I understand…
RECALL: Inside an outsider's view
Recently an old friend was in town for a visit. She was born here — her greater family has been here for generations, though she has lived in Portland for many years now. She has been gone since high school but vis…
ROMNEY: Critics, be specific, please
I would like to refer to Mr. Cecil Kelly III’s letter in Wednesday’s paper. In typical Democratic fashion he makes broad derogatory statements without any factual or detailed backup. I would appreciate it if he wou…
RECALL: Wait until next year
In my opinion the public process was followed and the result is a beautiful $14 million upgrade to our city park that will generate more than that in increased tourism and events. I am opposed to dividing our commu…
RECALL: A sad state of affairs
I am saddened by the malice and anger that the regeneration and repurposing of McEuen Park is creating. This space has had many and varied uses throughout the decades I’ve lived in Coeur d’Alene. As a Coeur d’Alene…
SMOKING: Beach ban no answer
To Cory Jasmin: First off I am not a smoker. However, to impose a ban on a personal freedom at a local beach (or anywhere else) is not the best idea. What if somewhere down the road someone found whatever you enjoy…
RECALL: Much to love about Cd'A
I’m going to make this as simple as possible:
RECALL: Response isn't appropriate
The actions of Frank Orzell and his Recall CdA petitions bring to mind a group of vigilantes. It appears that the concessions made by the City Council regarding the developments for McEuen Park are not sufficient f…
CRUELTY: Extend laws to wolves
Recent television/newspaper reports on changes to the Idaho animal abuse laws which would make these crimes a felony are very confusing. How could the state government consider this, while on a recent broadcast a t…
VETERANS: Many have vision problems
The Blinded Veterans Association, chartered by the Congress of the United States in 1945, is headquartered in Washington, D.C. The most recent quarterly edition of the BVA Bulletin provides the following informatio…
RECALL: Don't let minority rule
I am adding my no to the rapidly growing list of those who oppose the recall petition of Coeur d’Alene Mayor Bloem and council members Kennedy, Goodlander and McEvers. I will confine my comments to Mayor Bloem, but…
YOU: Ready to tell your story?
Everyone has a story to tell.
GEESE: Migratory bird law broken
What no one has bothered to mention in this tawdry story of the callous disregard for the welfare of wildlife by Charles Buck in his cruel attempt to prevent goose nesting at the University of Idaho campus in Coeur…
RECALL: Chaos comes to Cd'A
A quote from poet John Lydgate, later more famously used by President Lincoln reminds us that “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t ple…
RECALL: Public vote, anyone?
COME ON, PEOPLE! Let’s get a true picture.
