RECALL: Response isn't appropriate
The actions of Frank Orzell and his Recall CdA petitions bring to mind a group of vigilantes. It appears that the concessions made by the City Council regarding the developments for McEuen Park are not sufficient for Frank Orzell and other anti-McEuen Park citizens. “My way or no way.”
As I see it, they want the boat launch and trailer parking to remain where it is at this time, and that’s final.
Team McEuen did a great deal of research, traveling to neighboring states to view “state of the art” city parks. Their presentation for the redevelopment of McEuen Park was designed for the people living in our town. Senior citizens, athletes, children and handicapped people would find things to enjoy. In addition, the layout was beautiful in design. The plan could be implemented in phases so the financial outlay would be incremental.
Today we have a beautiful city by the lake that thrives with tourism and outdoor recreation sustaining our local businesses. The educational corridor is a reality. We have the Kroc Center with a thriving membership. The library is an icon to the learned people who live here.
I’m proud to live in a community that puts money toward higher educational opportunities and a progressive, stimulating way of life. Mayor Sandi Bloem and the City Council have a vision for this community to be all that it can be for the residents and visitors alike.
It hurts me deeply to think Frank Orzell who has lived here six years and others who support Mr. Orzell think the right thing to do is to recall our mayor and members of the City Council. Those people have worked diligently to create a community where businesses thrive and families enjoy a superb quality of life. We are the envy of those who visit our town.
Please, tear up your recall petitions!
