OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
WOLVES: Memo to a wolf lover
Dear Eric Feek: I’m going to explain something to you in a kind, gentle manner, so as not to offend your delicate sensibilities. Wolf hunters are not shortsighted haters.
THANKS: For sticking with us
To the community at large: I wanted to say a huge thank you to all our friends and customers who did make it into the fruit stand at 5959 Government Way during the road construction.
GOD: He's clearly on GOP's side
Don’t ever forget, our God is still on His throne. The Bible says that God lifts up kings (presidents) and He takes them down. We don’t always understand His ways, but President Obama and all the rich people who ar…
GAS: Ethanol good for nothing
Ten percent ethanol gasoline is good for employment of carburetor repairmen. I’ve had a lawnmower for 18 years that worked fine until I started using ethanol. I have a new lawnmower that I bought this spring, which…
OOPS: Knowing right from left
In my letter to the editor that appeared on Sunday, I clearly made an error in referring to “radical left ranting.” Of course, I meant “radical right ranting.” I personally know of no local Democrat that I would de…
BRANNON: Case reeks of injustice
I sit down to sing my soliloquy to justice swollen shut — that’s a wound that won’t heal properly and has swollen itself shut.
PRESS: Warm holiday wishes
I want to say Happy Thanksgiving to the Coeur d’Alene Press. I have lived in more than 16 states and have never found a better newspaper anywhere. The employees are so great. You all work so hard for your clients, …
CHRIST: Keep Him in holidays
Post 1950 of the Catholic War Veterans thanks, in advance, all of you who will keep Christ in Christmas by your use of cards, stamps, decorations and observances. After all, He is the reason for the season!
OBAMA: He took away our treats
The personal losses during Obama’s first term were many: My sister who lived five houses down the street from us (along with my adorable 4-year-old nephew and 13-year-old niece) had to sell their home to move to Wi…
DEMS: A place for real balance
Democrats, take heart and come out of the closet in Kootenai County! Our nine brave candidates on the general election ballot for Idaho state legislature seats garnered from 29-43 percent of the votes in their dist…
CENTER: City should help out
I belong to the Senior Center (and it is Senior Center) and it seems as though we’re in trouble of not having enough money to stay open. All our thoughts are this: How can the city pay thousands for a park nobody w…
GOP: Color me unimpressed
In response to David Larsen’s rebuttal to my letter. David, the response is what I would expect from someone of the liberal left — personal attacks instead of speaking to the facts. This was the way of the Democrat…
SCHOOLS: Honor a different view
The editorial of Nov. 16 posited the value of a school board with greater diversity in their viewpoint and indicated the resignation of Jim Purtee was “for the good of all.” I don’t recall The Press ever calling fo…
IMPACT: Why fees must be collected
This topic will be discussed at the next county commissioners meeting. Government should do what it can to stimulate the local economy and create jobs — just not at the expense of the taxpayer.
HARRISON: Call for openness
I own property in the city of Harrison and I am concerned that the local government is working to keep residents in the dark concerning fees and taxes.
