Courtesy photo The Sting Timbers 04 Boys Red soccer team bested the Boise Nationals in a shootout in their final game to take third at the recent Idaho State Cup. Shootout goals were scored by Noah Janzen, Joseph Sarkis, Kohrt Weber and Andon Brandt. Kael McGowan blocked 2 shots in goal to end the shootout 4-2. In regular tournament play goals were scored by Alex Reyes-2 and Tyler Gasper-1 on an assist by Kohrt Weber. Devyn Ivankovich and Kael McGowan teamed in goal over the weekend. Courtesy photo The North Idaho Inferno under-15 boys Johnson soccer team placed second in the gold bracket in the 3 Blind Refs tournament. Starting as U9 players and staying together as a team for the last 5-6 years besides adding a few players each year, the Inferno finished its season strong with placing first in the Bill Eisenwinter Hot Shot Tournament, coming in second at the 3 Blind Refs tourney, and second in their league. This last weekend the Inferno shut out Flathead Valley White 3-0 and Sandpoint Strikers-Tate 2-0. Josh Nilson had the shutouts in goal. Against Flathead-White Loko Koller scored once and Caleb Calkins scored twice with an assist by Andrew Baumann. Against the Sandpoint Strikers Caleb Calkins and Loko Koller each scored once with an assist by Ron Rojas. The Inferno lost 2-1 to Flathead-Green. The lone Inferno score was by Alex Peters, assisted by Roman Smith. The Inferno won 5-1 against Calgary Chinook. Ethan Johnson scored with an assists from Caleb Calkins. Matt McLeod scored once with an assist from Loko Koller. Caleb Calkins scored a hat trick. Courtesy photo The Coeur d’Alene Crush 04 softball team finished second to Kaizen of Calgary, Alberta, in the Crush 14-and-under tournament last weekend at Post Falls High School. Matea Dorame went 17 for 22 for the weekend registering one homer, two triples and six doubles. In pool play games, the Crush beat the Spokane Impact 12-9 on Friday. Alexis Blankenship, Kristine Schmidt and Kailey Cramer each hit two-run doubles. On Saturday, the Crush beat the Post Falls Blast 16-4. Matea Dorame and Kaylyn Rice both hit two-run triples as well as RBI doubles, and Catherine Bakken hit an RBI double. The Crush beat the Montana Sparks 11-4. Alexis Blankenship hit a two-run home run. In bracket play on Sunday, the Crush beat the Orange Crush of Post Falls 9-7. Matea Dorame and Kailey Cramer hit two doubles each. The Crush beat the Montana Sparks 11-10, as Matea Dorame hit a two-run double, and Kristine Schmidt hit an RBI double. In the championship game, the Crush lost 15-11 to Kaizen. Matea Dorame hit a two-run homer for the Crush, and Kailey Cramer had a two-run double. Courtesy photo The Sting Timbers FC 05 Boys red soccer team competed Memorial Day weekend at the IYSA State Cup in Boise. All games were played at the Simplot Sports Complex. The Sting lost 2-0 to the Boise Nationals Timbers-blueon Friday night. On Saturday afternoon, they beat Idaho Rush 4-1. In the semifinals on Sunday, the Sting lost 2-1 to the Nova Rush Gold. In the third-place game, the Sting beat PVSC 7-0. Sting goals were scored throughout the weekend by Landon Lee (5), Nate Wyatt (1), Cooper Prohaska (3), Isaac Fritts (1) and Logan Haynes (1). Goalkeeper Miles Taylor had over 15 saves throughout the weekend. BASKETBALL

Post Falls girls camp nears: The Post Falls Lady Trojan Girls Youth Basketball Camp, for girls entering grades 2-8, is set for June 18-21 at Post Falls Middle School.

Camp times are 9 a.m. to noon each day.

Post Falls High School girls basketball head coach Marc Allert heads the instructional staff.

Cost is $80 per person, $120 for two children from the same family, and $150 for three or more children from the same family.

Signups will be taken in advance; signups will also be taken the first day of camp.

Junior Tackle football camp set: Coeur d’Alene High school football coaches will provide instruction at a free Junior Tackle football camp, scheduled for Aug. 21-22 at Coeur d’Alene High School.

The camp is free to anyone entering grades 5-8 who plans to play in the Coeur d’Alene Junior Tackle program.

Player check-in is Aug. 21 at noon. The camp runs from 1 to 3 p.m. each day.
