The Coeur d’Alene Crush 04 softball team finished second to Kaizen of Calgary, Alberta, in the Crush 14-and-under tournament last weekend at Post Falls High School. Matea Dorame went 17 for 22 for the weekend registering one homer, two triples and six doubles.
In pool play games, the Crush beat the Spokane Impact 12-9 on Friday. Alexis Blankenship, Kristine Schmidt and Kailey Cramer each hit two-run doubles. On Saturday, the Crush beat the Post Falls Blast 16-4. Matea Dorame and Kaylyn Rice both hit two-run triples as well as RBI doubles, and Catherine Bakken hit an RBI double. The Crush beat the Montana Sparks 11-4. Alexis Blankenship hit a two-run home run. In bracket play on Sunday, the Crush beat the Orange Crush of Post Falls 9-7. Matea Dorame and Kailey Cramer hit two doubles each. The Crush beat the Montana Sparks 11-10, as Matea Dorame hit a two-run double, and Kristine Schmidt hit an RBI double. In the championship game, the Crush lost 15-11 to Kaizen. Matea Dorame hit a two-run homer for the Crush, and Kailey Cramer had a two-run double.
