Across Idaho, stores changed hours, adjusted safety measures and struggled with unprecedented customer demand. Boise-based Albertsons Companies operates 2,200 stores across the country, including more than 40 in Idaho under the Albertsons and Safeway names.

BUS: Local drivers excel

The average school bus driver has been with Coeur d’Alene School District 271 for several years. We have never had a child seriously injured or killed in more than 65 years. Many of our drivers are here for the health benefits, and Coeur d’Alene is our home.

SHOLEH: Positive beliefs guide lives

I was glad to see Sholeh Patrick’s column, “Modesty a matter of perception,” in the Press. Not because it is about nudity, but because it gave the message that our beliefs, ideas and attitudes can lead us to false perceptions. The article had a clear message delivered in terms nearly anyone can understand, and I hope many will be able to transfer that learning to other more critical subjects such as race, lifestyle, relationships, etc.

SCHOOLS: Now no time for levy

In reference to the school district upcoming additional levy on real property. The article on Nov. 3 includes a statement that our school leaders could not foresee an economic downturn that is now a global recession. Seems rather odd, since we have been on an economic downturn for quite some time.

ENGLISH: Try it some time

In last Saturday’s paper there was an article that stated money won’t fix our schools. It was right. First you have to teach our children correctly.

CDA: Street service extraordinaire

Boy are we lucky to live in Coeur d’Alene where our leaves are picked up, snow is plowed in a timely manner,and our streets are cleaned in the spring. Thanks to Tim Martin and our street department, all of these things happen along with sidewalk and street repair in the summer. All of this is done by the good folks at the street department, saving taxpayers lots of money by doing the work in house.

MOUNTAIN: Chamber lends its support

The Rathdrum Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors supports the city of Rathdrum’s development of their 556 acres. It is our belief that the scope of this development will be determined only after input from the citizens of Rathdrum and other stakeholder interest groups.

JORDAN: Just say no

Stumping on nothing more than aspiring to be the first female governor of our great state, and poorly backing that up by adding a desire in becoming the first Native American governor of our great country are self-serving at best. Digging deeper as the election approaches indicate Jordan has spending issues. DO NOT VOTE for someone who has their own interests in mind and who clearly, based on campaign expenditures, shows no concern for the rest of us here in Idaho. One Elizabeth Warren is enough for our country, don’t you think?

TRUMP: Analytica's ally

Big brother Trump has used Cambridge Analytica to harvest our personal info on the internet and Facebook to manipulate our ignorance and fears. Trumpie Wumpie scape-goats an imaginary deep state conspiracy Analytica dreamed up so politicians, bureaucrats and Fox News can purge those on his enemies list. Trumpie is now floating a trial balloon of being president for life. Our Putin-loving, want to be absolute ruler is bubbling with contempt of anyone questioning his goals or actions.

CARTOON: No laughing matter

The political cartoon by Mike Shelton on March 11 was stupid and disgusting, and not funny for patriots who believe in America. The depictions of the president of our United States and the North Korean leader are despicable to say the least.

OBAMA: Give him a break

VOTE: Heed founders' wisdom

It appears our country eventually may fall into socialist control, the way it’s headed. People complain about over government control, but few get off their duffs and vote yet complain about all the excessive overreach of government into our lives.

COPS: Count your blessings

We are blessed and so fortunate to live in such a beautiful place called North Idaho. I could use more sunshine, but have learned over the years to think of the positive and be thankful.
