BORDERS: For PF Council

There are few men that I respect more than Councilman Lynn Borders. As a citizen of Post Falls and as a friend, I am proud of everything he has done for our city. He is a dedicated public servant, through 31 years of service with Kootenai County Fire and Rescue, serving as a board member for the Post Falls Food Bank, and through his service on the City Council to ease the burden on taxpayers, to promote economic growth, and to secure the safety of our citizens. He even volunteers his time performing maintenance at Calvary Lutheran Church as a devoted member of our church.

OFFICER: Thoughts of thankfulness

While we were sleeping comfortably in our homes early Tuesday morning, one of Coeur d’Alene’s finest (Sgt. Greg Moore) was stopping a suspicious suspect and was shot. Sgt. Moore was ensuring that our streets were safe and that this criminal would not endanger our families.

AMADOR: Keep him in our political system

Please get out and vote on May 15. Every single vote matters and I’m encouraging you to re-elect Paul Amador for Idaho House Seat 4B. Paul Amador is an incredibly smart and approachable leader of our community. He will continue to encourage the development of a high quality educational system. He wants minimal government regulation and will protect the right of families. For the future of our Idaho, we must keep young and educated people like Paul Amador in our political system. Thank you.

MIDTERM: Conservatives unite

Probably the most important election in 50 years is coming up on Nov. 6. Conservatives need to get off their posteriors and vote in mass to keep socialists at bay. Our republic depends on conservatives winning the midterm election for our country to stay free of socialists’ control! Socialism is only a tiny fraction away from being classified as Communism!

Realtors take stand on recall

You would have to live in a vacuum to have missed the controversy in the Lake City over the last couple of weeks. A cadre of disgruntled citizens has built enough momentum to organize an effort to remove some of our most dedicated public servants from office.

An NIC year has three distinct cycles

Just as life is a cycle of beginnings and endings, so too is life at North Idaho College. We experience three distinct cycles. The first is our academic year which runs from fall through winter into spring. The second is our budget year which starts on July 1 and ends the following June 30. The final cycle is the actual calendar year of January through December. They overlap and intersect and sometimes create a mid-cycle break. That is where we are now; the halfway point in the academic and budget years. While a break in the cycles is good and we will get some time off, we are also preparing for the new calendar year cycle. Among other things, this means our government affairs activities kick into high gear as we anticipate the beginning of the Idaho legislative session in early January.

Wine self-doubt

Around the holidays and other special occasions, many of us delve into our collections of special bottles of wine to share with friends and family. It is, in short, that time of year when we not only want to treat ourselves but those close to us with a bottle that is meaningful and one we recall as being especially good. Sometimes, though, we may find the wine to be lacking when we taste it - it is just not the wine we remember so vividly. We start to think, "What was I thinking? This is not so good."
