CHILDREN’S VILLAGE: Kids need homes

Our phones are ringing more frequently than they have in the last two years; families are losing their homes and rentals, and it’s happening rapidly.

In our current local discourse, I frequently wonder if our community understands. Without opinion and stake, I wonder if our incredible and loving public understands the warning signs we’re experiencing every time a parent asks us to care for their child so they can spend a few days figuring out their housing.

Sibling groups are coming and going and coming and going — they and their parents know we will love them whether they are in or out of our care.

But the cold weather is coming.

Will we have enough beds to serve our community children? My heart is worried.
