Clarification

The lethal level of diphenhydramine found in Larry Isenberg’s body was 7,100 nanograms per milliliter, or ng/ml, according to information provided by detectives in a search warrant executed in Spokane County, where two of Lori Isenberg’s six children — Larry Isenberg’s stepchildren — live. Referred to as simply “nanograms” in most toxicolgy reports, it is a measurement of the concentration of a drug in a person’s system after it has metabolized. It is not a measurement of dosage. Normal therapeutic levels of diphenydramine are measured at a concentration of 100 to 1,000 nanograms per milliliter.

Beta-Alanine/Carnosine a potent endurance booster

Carnosine aka Beta-Alanine is a potent buffer for the body. As an athlete increases their time exercising the body starts leaning more towards being acidic. Carnosine is fairly abundant in meat eaters but is really low in vegetarians or even lacto-ovo-vegetarians. The more carnosine a body has the better its ability to buffer the effects of endurance exercise. The less it has, the less ability it has.

PRESCRIPTION: Huge difference in prices

As a summer resident here in Coeur d’Alene, and needing to refill a common prescription while here, I was shocked when the same drug that I pay under $9 for in California costs nearly $60 at three local Coeur d’Alene drug stores — Walgreens, Rite-Aid and Fred Meyer. Someone suggested I try Costco pharmacy. I did this and they quoted the price at just under $6! In every case, the costs were for the very same drug, dosage and quantity. HOW CAN THAT BE?

Time for a new dog

It is finally time. Four years after the death of my yellow lab, Molly, I am finally ready to commit to another dog. I miss having a hunting buddy, someone to take to the lake when I attempt to convince myself to lay on the couch to watch one more rerun of, "Key and Peele," and a happy face to greet me when I get home after a hard day at work.
