Compromise sought on domestic surveillance
WASHINGTON (AP) - The chairman of the Senate intelligence committee floated a compromise Thursday that would end bulk collection of phone records by the National Security Agency after a two-year transition period, leaving it up to the House to accept the deal or allow expiration of government surveillance powers June 1.

- Gov. Brad Little has ordered all U.S. and Idaho flags in the state be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, to honor 29-year old Army Sergeant First Class Dustin B. Ard, who died Aug. 29, from wounds sustained during combat operations in Afghanistan. He was the son of former Ammon, Idaho, Mayor Bruce Ard.
