St. Maries girls continue successful season
RATHDRUM — In the third season since reviving their girls soccer program, the St. Maries Lumberjacks reached another milestone Monday: their first district victory.
Soup, bread add up to holiday cheer
Many offices hold employee potlucks but sampling wonderful homemade soups and breads goes for a good cause at the Kootenai County Administrative offices. The 12th annual Soup and Bread Contest took place at lunchtime on Monday. There were 54 soups and 26 breads entered and almost 200 people paid $5 to taste to their tummy's content.

Timberlake (12-12) won its first district title since 2019, and advances to state for the first time since that season. Coeur d'Alene (15-12) eliminated by Lewiston.

RATHDRUM — Jared McDaniel went 3 for 4 with three doubles and an RBI in the first game and Max Baker pitched four shutout innings in the second game, leading the Lakeland Hawks to a 9-3 and 5-3 sweep of the Sandpoint Bulldogs to clinch the 4A Inland Empire League championship on Saturday at Gorton Field.

Lake City (18-6) will play host to third-seeded Lewiston (14-11) today at 4 in the regional championship game for a berth to state. Lewiston won at No. 2 seed Coeur d’Alene 13-3 in five innings. Coeur d’Alene (14-11) will play host to Post Falls (10-14) today at 4 in a loser-out game.
