ST. MARIES — Wyatt Holmes hit a bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the first inning, Gabe Long and Riley Abell drove in three runs each and the fourth-seeded St. Maries Lumberjacks beat the fifth-seeded Priest River Spartans 13-6 in a loser-out game to open the 2A District 1-2 tournament at City Park on Friday.
Landen Holmes struck out six over four innings for St. Maries (10-13), which faces top-seeded Orofino on Monday at Orofino High.
