LAW: Stand your ground - wisely
Thirty states have passed “Stand Your Ground” laws. It is a good law, if not abused. However, over the past few months there has been a string of killings under the “Stand Your Ground” law, which is nothing more than bad judgment resulting in murder.
Perlane is now Restylane Lyft
As Galderma takes the helm of one fast growing injectable company, Dysport is gaining its share of the botulinum market and Perlane is now being marketed as Restylane Lyft. Restylane Lyft has recently gained FDA approval for cheek injections and as a result, has chosen to rebrand one of our favorite fillers. Perlane will now be known as Restylane Lyft. If you hear me talking about Perlane, it is simply out of habit. It has been my workhorse for over 10 years, and I am excited about its new indication for mid face rejuvenation.
MEDICARE: Tackling some myths
Being recently eligible and enrolled in Medicare, I’m finding all this talk about the panacea of “Medicare for all” incredibly misleading. It is being presented as “free” and “without the denials and paperwork” of private insurance. The facts are proving otherwise.
Hearing it firsthand
Tasting wine - whether it is at the winery, a wine tasting, or a winemaker dinner held locally - is always the best way to buy wine. You try it, you like it and you buy it - or you try it, think "not so much" and decide not to buy it. The important thing is that you actually have the chance to evaluate the wine for yourself to guide your buying decisions.

As scams go, this is one of the breast
Katherine called me the other day from an outfit named the American Breast Cancer Support Association. She was soliciting donations. They were calling using a 208 area code. When I asked her where she was really calling from, she admitted she was in Texas. Maybe the Idaho and Texas attorneys general should talk to each other and at least investigate the people behind this cruel ruse.

PROTEST: Who are the adults?
What a sad day in North Idaho.
COVERAGE: Seeing a disparity
In your Jan. 15 story “Rally for LGBTQ Youth,” I found it interesting how much press coverage you gave Ms. Olson and how little coverage you actually gave those who attended the “Stop the Child Abuse” rally that was held on Jan. 11.

SCOTUS: Taxes now trump freedom
The importance of the Supreme Court decision regarding Obamacare lies far less in what it does to health care, than in what it does to basic American concepts of freedom and rule of law. John Roberts, in “Alice in Wonderland” fashion, has destroyed both. Although holding that the Congress does not have the authority to force one to buy a product, Roberts held that the government can coerce one to buy that product through a new and now unlimited taxation power.

A customer of ours stopped in the store this week and ordered a case of wine called Barinas. Barinas is a delicious wine from the Jumilla region of Spain, known for producing some of the very best Monastrell, which is also known as Mourvedre. The wines can be quite massive, with dense rich fruit and firm structure, ranging in price from $11 for the Barinas that our customer enjoys so much to wines that retail close to triple digits.

REALTORS: No more 'Hunter's Paradise'
I’m appealing to Realtors to stop promoting their land listings as “Hunter’s Paradise…,” etc. I’ve seen this too often and it’s painful to read the suggestion or assumption that someone’s intention would be to buy the property for the purpose of killing OUR beautiful wildlife.
