Representatives from the Idaho Farm Bureau Federation, American Farmland Trust, U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services and more will speak April 20 at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds during the Working Lands and Open Space Symposium.

I want to give you a big Thank You! for being so steadfast and consistent over the past 20 years with your weather forecast, always getting it in by deadline, even when traveling on vacation and after having a heart attack! What? I don’t think we see that kind of work ethic too much these days.

This year the event is Saturday, April 20, and will begin on Kellogg Peak, where competitors will kick the race off with a one-mile ski/snowboard run where they will transition into the mountain bike portion of the competition before capping the race off with four-mile run to the finish line.

The moon’s brightness won’t be a bother before midnight after October’s first week, and the sky will be totally moonless mid-month, making for great 8 p.m. and later sky-sessions. Look to the east for the sky’s brightest “star,” Jupiter. For those with telescopes, you can’t beat Saturn, the solitary bright “star” halfway up the southern sky. Those two are so bright, they’ll still be quite visible even if you live near city lights.

Prairie Avenue, roundabouts open
Two new roundabouts installed at Fennicus, Zorros
Traffic is once again moving on Prairie Avenue between State Highway 41 and North Meyer Road in Post Falls following a closure of nearly 20 weeks. That stretch of the popular arterial reopened Oct. 23 after the installation of roundabouts at Fennicus and Zorros roads, just east of Highway 41. The Zorros roundabout was the latest to be completed.
