Silver Hills PTO brightens up cafeteria with a new mural
Earlier this week, Silver Hills Elementary School unveiled a new cafeteria mural on two walls, painted by ArtCoLab. Jessie Caraway, the Silver Hills Elementary School PTO president, said PTO member Bryn Cotter coordinated with ArtCoLab to help “capture the essence of our beautiful scenery” in the Silver Valley.

After a review of two recycling company bids, the Shoshone Board of County Commissioners voted last week to make a switch from MCE Garbage and Recycling to KP Auto Salvage. MCE has been handling the county’s recycling since 2018.

COEUR d’ALENE — During the Bay Watchers annual meeting Meg Wolf of the Idaho Water Resources Research Institute and Craig Cooper of Idaho Department of Environmental Quality presented updates on the water quality and data methods in the works for monitoring Coeur d'Alene Lake. The presentation at the Harbor Center Coeur d’Alene went over data patterns at 11 monitoring sites collected by citizen scientists at Arrow Point, Beauty Bay, Blue Creek Bay, Cave Bay, Everwell Bay, Leaning Pine Point, Moscow Bay and Steamboat Point.

Pope Francis kicks off a yearlong Jubilee that will test his stamina and Rome's patience

After a marathon, five-hour, often emotional meeting, the West Bonner County School Board voted to keep its three elementary schools open but close its junior high school. The high school would also remain open.
