OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
THANKS: Highway rescuers
Many, many thanks to the wonderful young couple from Coeur d’Alene — truly good samaritans — who stopped to help in response to my emergency flashers and frantic waving for assistance on I-90 just east of the Idaho…
GOP: Separating wheat, chaff
At the Republican booth at the North Idaho State Fair, I upset some people. I contend that the booth should be called the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee booth or the Redoubt booth.
LETTERS: The story they tell
The give and take in The Press’s LTE section is a perfect example of the tribal thinking that is so common today in the U.S. This is especially vivid if one follows the give and take of the comments, replies and fu…
AP: Tell the story
The Associated Press has outdone itself. Last Sunday they went on and on using 624 words to avoid saying something about anything. I cannot believe there is anyone on the planet who does not know why the Mormon Chu…
McCAIN: Towering over Trump
Upon the return of the Vietnam POWs, the U.S. military undertook a comprehensive review and evaluation of all aspects of the POWs’ experience. I was privileged to have been assigned to that undertaking as a Reserve…
AMERICANS: All for one
Spearheading individualism by nationality, the Democrat/Liberal/Progressive Party has promoted and encouraged racial division in America.
JORDAN: Is Little next?
Your recent articles about Paulette Jordan are vitriolic political attacks. If you were a credible newspaper, you would at least provide similar articles about Brad Little. Unfortunately, there would be little to w…
NOTARY: Lessons learned
I would like to thank Jerry Rose and Jennifer Lyda for their reply letters. In my original letter to the editor, I mistakenly stated what I thought were some of the duties of a Notary Public. I stand corrected. Bot…
TRANSPLANTS: Just dreaming
The fondest hope now for the old home town is this (Don’t ask why I get such satisfaction from it. I just do.):
JORDAN: Press coverage unfair
It has been two days in a row that your paper has run a smear column about the appearance of a slight by governor hopeful Paulette Jordan. I find it extremely distasteful that a local paper would blatantly cast asp…
MIRANDA: For commissioner
Is anyone else getting tired of how Kootenai County is being run? There seems to be no pre-planning on growth or construction! The county even opted out of building codes? That is not safe! Exceptions seem to be gi…
DUNCAN: For commissioner
Leslie Duncan’s realistic and optimistic understanding of our community’s issues and needs, and her willingness to investigate the dilemmas and listen carefully to the public’s questions and concerns, sets her far …
PROTESTS: Where art thou?
I must have missed the liberals’ protests and ranting about Trump allowing the senseless murder of Mollie Tibbetts by an illegal immigrant (excuse me, by an “undocumented permanent foreign guest with privileges”). …
VOTING: Citizens, step up
Sholeh’s column on July 26 cited the 2014 survey from Princeton University that the USA is no longer a Democracy. Regardless of the survey, the USA is representative and self-ruling. This is versus totalitarian, au…
ENEMIES: Don't think so
I just watched and heard President Trump refer to the media as “the enemy of the people.” And I witnessed some 10,000 people, along with a couple rows of beautiful white children, supposedly believing him.
