THANKS: Highway rescuers

| August 31, 2018 1:00 AM

Many, many thanks to the wonderful young couple from Coeur d’Alene — truly good samaritans — who stopped to help in response to my emergency flashers and frantic waving for assistance on I-90 just east of the Idaho/Montana state line around noon on Saturday, Aug. 4.

The sharp hook of a heavy-duty bungee cord had punctured and was embedded in my tire — undriveable. I was physically unable to change the tire and there was no cellphone signal at that location. These folks, so friendly and helpful, quickly changed the tire, using the “toy” spare. They really saved my day.

I drove on to my destination in Kalispell on that spare, slowly (50 mph), emergency flashers on. The tire was repaired, I continued my road trip on schedule with the spare once again on standby in the trunk, and gladly report no further problems occurred.

May this good deed be repaid to these folks a hundredfold throughout their lives. I’ll always fondly recall my good fortune that day when such nice, decent people came to the aid of a stranger in need. I regret not getting their names, but I’ll never forget their concern and assistance.
