AP: Tell the story
The Associated Press has outdone itself. Last Sunday they went on and on using 624 words to avoid saying something about anything. I cannot believe there is anyone on the planet who does not know why the Mormon Church wants to change its name to Latter-day Saints. Of course, the reason is because of the church’s history of polygamy.
One of my favorite novels, Zane Grey’s Riders of the Purple Sage, published circa 1912, describes clearly why Mormon leaders keep trying to change the name of their religion. The mistreatment of women described in this scathing novel would shame the most ardent anti-feminist on the planet!
The novel describes Mormon men raiding neighboring states, kidnapping women and young girls and taking them by force back to Utah. After 50 or so years of this behavior, the thousands of families who lost loved ones were outraged to the point of seeking revenge. This is why Utah had to give up polygamy before the government would let it become a state.
Under polygamy, if a population had 2,000 men and 2,000 women and each man had only two wives, 1,000 men would have no women at all. If you want a war, institute polygamy and you’ve got one. Just look at the Middle East where polygamy dominates. The AP article would have us believe that the world’s largest news origination does not have a clue?
