Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
CLIMATE: Change is natural
Earth began with a 2.2 billion-year warm cycle followed by a 300 million-year cool cycle.
HEADLINE: Shows anti-Trump bias
The Jan. 30 Coeur d’Alene Press front page tease, “Trump defense: Ukraine ‘quid pro quo’ not impeachable,” refers readers to an Associated Press article appearing on Page 4. Although the content of the referenced a…
TRIAL: Ukraine questions
The impeachment trial of President Trump focuses on one topic: The Ukraine. This, to my mind, raises two questions:
SCANNER: Well worth cost
After reading the Coeur d’Alene Press article the other day, I was astounded that Commissioner Brooks would not want to approve getting the county jail a body scanner. I contacted him, and he called me back immedia…

FIRES: Tragedy or tipping point?
Scorched earth, destroyed homes, burned animals and shocked residents have been all over the news and my heart really goes out to the people of Australia. I also know that increased risk of forest fires is one of t…
PRESIDENTS: A common thread
What do Franklin Roosevelt, John Kennedy, Bill Clinton and Donald Trump have in common? No not that. They are on my list of great presidents because they have made our country better because of their accomplishment…
VETERANS: Good, bad, ugly
Idaho HB No. 492 is a long overdue property tax reduction for 100% disabled veterans, but it seems the state of Idaho and the Veterans Administration don’t agree on who is totally and permanently disabled. A vetera…
