OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
TAX CUTS: Jobs landed overseas
Borrowing from China to pay for the tax break for the rich ... the tea party and Republicans decry that the debt is so large yet they are willing to borrow billions from China so the wealthy in this country can hav…
THANKS: This time, giver gets
First, THANK YOU! to Press Christmas for All. I have always donated, but this year I needed, and they were there. When I went to pick up my envelope, the people working there were so kind and great. And when I saw …
EDUCATION: Same issue, different views
I just read Mike Ruskovich's Dec. 11 "My Turn" column. He and I have two points of agreement: Our First Amendment rights (all of them) are important, and education is valuable (both to individuals and "The stabilit…
MILITARY: Support GI Bill to full extent
Our servicemen and women risk their lives to defend our freedom. The least we can do is provide them with the respect and encouragement they deserve.
ADIOS: Instructor thanks many friends
Past readership surveys of mid-size town daily newspapers show the items most read are the obituaries. Second in readership are short letters to the editor. Since I prefer not to see my name in the first-read items…

GOD: Let lyrics lead our leaders
The editor has been gracious to print my letters to The Press. We, the People of America, are mostly happy to have been blessed to live in this free, exceptional country which was founded by such deep thinking and …
Don't expect justice in Hart re-run, either
Now tell me again, how is it that Idaho Rep. Phil Hart is bulletproof? He has been brought up on ethics charges in the House of Representatives, only to be assigned to the same ethics panel that saw nothing wrong w…
PANEL: Barrier to birth control?
I've read that a group of medical and policy experts are deciding whether to categorize birth control as preventive medicine under the new health care reform law. If it is considered preventive medicine, it will be…
Guest Opinion - December 17, 2010
Now tell me again, how is it that Idaho Rep. Phil Hart is bulletproof? He has been brought up on ethics charges in the House of Representatives, only to be assigned to the same ethics panel that saw nothing wrong w…
EDUCATION: Of dollars and sense
It is always a privilege to read letters by Mike Ruskovich and to see his smiling face. And I do appreciate his perception. It is just that I come from a little different perspective.
