OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
SANTA: Seeing him is believing
It was 9 p.m. last Friday night. I was reading some Christmas stories in a magazine. The sound of a siren and honking vehicles from the street drew my attention. I went to the window to see what was the matter. A l…
WEAPONS: No place for assault
Sorry gun people, but help us stop this madness, please! Should we ban assault weapons, REALLY? YOU THINK?
SIGN: Thoughtless reference to guns
I know that I live in the land of the mighty hunter, but in the wake of the shootings in Connecticut, shouldn’t someone have had the sense or at least the decency to pull the kid with the sandwich sign, “Gun Show T…
CITY: Lest we forget
In the last week or so, Mayor Sandi Bloem referred to the attempt earlier this year to recall herself and three members of the City Council as a victory: once at the retirement event for Susan Weathers (retiring Ci…
SIN: The root of man's problems
Larry Barnes is correct when he states that misconceptions and half-truths occur whenever articles are written about Mormons. But the same can be said about Christians or others. No one, however, is more prone to p…
SHOOTERS: We need good laws
Bravo Gary for your letter in Sunday’s Press re: Shooters: Turn the tables on them. I would like to add that laws have to be changed so that they don’t allow the criminal to determine the “rules of engagement.”
TRIBUTE: To Rev. Carl Blanford

MOOSE: The Game is on
It never fails to amaze me how clever and inventive are those who continually load the “letters” section of The Press. Take, for example, Mr. (or Mrs.) Turley of Avery.
MORMON: Doesn't embrace the Trinity
While one could wish that the tone of Mr. Patterson’s article were more winsome, the fact that he has been honest about the content of Mormon teaching is refreshing. Frequently Mormons soft-pedal these differences …
BUSES: Driving a hard bargain
This is in reference to the contract busing that Cd’A School District has been looking at. I am curious why there hasn’t been more coverage on it.
TRAGEDY: Guns are the solution
In the past year we have seen the tragic events of several mass murders. It is extremely sad for all the victims’ families and friends that these senseless killings took from them their loved ones.
CFA: Challenge issued to donors
I am sad to see the Christmas for All fund lower than last year and with even a greater need. Giving to CFA was one of my first donations this holiday season, but I have decided to give again.
