CARLSBAD: Respect in N. Idaho
In response to a letter from Gerald Johannsen, Carlsbad, Calif.
ELECTION: Lifetime Cd’Aers endorse Patzer
As lifelong residents of Coeur d’Alene, we are grateful to the people of our community who tirelessly and selflessly give their time and energy to make Coeur d’Alene a better place for all generations. One of these dedicated volunteers is Dave Patzer, and today we ask you to vote for Dave Patzer for precinct chair in precinct No. 205.
SHERIFF: Norris doing superb job
Sheriff Norris has done so much for our community. It saddens me that people overlook the many achievements he has done during his tenure.
ELECTION: Something to believe in
I guess I’m proud to be a RINO or at least the way the current leadership of the KCRCC defines it.
PRESIDENTIAL PERFORMANCE: A tale of two presidents
Reply to J. W. Vance and Dennis Keim Letters in Sunday’s Press on Aug. 4: There couldn’t have been a more opposite view on Biden’s and Trump’s character, values, and performance. I ask myself simply: is our country better off now under Biden or Trump’s presidency? Therefore, it is obvious I must agree with Mr. Vance.
KOOTENAI HEALTH: Big aspirations are unreasonable
It is good that Jamie Smith, our new CEO of Kootenai Health, has big aspirations. Mr. Smith wants expanding services in neighboring areas to attract patients from outside the area. More importantly, he should be aspiring to our local communities that desperately need those services.
VEHICLE FEE: Gas tax better target
Vote NO on the $50 vehicle registration fee increase. Why should Kootenai County residents pay to improve Interstate 90 when it is used by interstate traffic and residents of adjacent counties?
POSTAL: Support this service
The Postal Service is again under attack.
WHOA: Stop the panic
We can’t control the current “disruption in all of our lives” but we can communicate with each other about other subjects through our local newspaper and its website. Dwelling only on the coronavirus when it is something out of our (or anyone’s) control is counter productive for the entire human race. We should be concentrating on living into the future, not dying in isolation.
LAWSUIT: Short on homework
I am disturbed by the article in the Wednesday Press that the local GOP is suing the school district, with subtitle of “Hopes to expose CDA district’s ‘left-wing activists.’”
A request for reports of paranormal activity
The Coeur d'Alene Press staff would like to hear from our readers about the haunted places of North Idaho.
SCHOOLS: Reject proposed schedule
I am writing this letter to inform the school board that I do not support your modified school day proposal for the next school year. Late start on Monday is nothing but difficult for the working parents of school age children.
WAR: Here comes history - again
When I read the headlines on The Press of Oct. 22 I didn't know if I should laugh or cry.
INCUMBENTS: Key to nation's woes
Good Grief! Here we go again. Another tirade in The Press about our dysfunctional political system. Former President Reagan was only half right when he said that "Government is the problem." Here is a news flash, folks. We the people (the first three words in our Federal Constitution) are the government, so we are the problem.
SCHOOLS: Reject proposed schedule
I am writing this letter to inform the school board that I do not support your modified school day proposal for the next school year. Late start on Monday is nothing but difficult for the working parents of school age children.
CHEMTRAILS: Who, what, why, where
The intent and hope of this letter is to bring awareness to the public of a federal government program labeled geoengineering. This is a massive scale program being performed by our military that consists of using jets to spray primarily aluminum and several other metallic elements into our sky.
HOME: Association a hindrance, not help
I would like to address some of the negative things that are happening in some homeowners associations these days.
AMADOR: Education advocate
As someone who has lived in North Idaho for 40 years and raised my children here, I am aware of the importance of education in our state. My children attended schools locally and my grandchildren will enter the public schools here soon. When we vote this fall, we need to select Republican Paul Amador, the candidate who has more than a decade of strong education experience. I have personally known Paul for almost 15 years and have witnessed firsthand his good character, honesty and strong work ethic. There is no one who will work harder to improve the quality of education in our great state than Paul. We need to focus on our future and elect Republican Paul Amador for House Seat 4B.
SCHOOLS: Vote for community
I am supporting the Coeur d’Alene School District’s March 14th Levy and Bond because neither will raise my tax rate. Soon, the previous Levy and Bond will expire, and these will take their place and provide a continuum of support for our Coeur d’Alene schools.
ADLER: God gave OK for guns
This is in response to Dr. David Adler. I wasn’t at the library when he gave his speech so I didn’t hear it right from the horse’s (or should I say jackass’s) mouth. But I read it in The Press and could not believe what I read.
