JAME` DAVIS — Better days comin’ right up

The past couple of months have been interesting and challenging to say the least. Businesses and organizations adapting and adjusting to state orders, new company policies and procedures regarding health, safety and let’s not forget a whole new world via Zoom!

'Feds' isn't a 4-letter word

We're not happy with the federal government, either.

Timeless knit treasures that still fascinate

If you plan on attending this year's Wooden Boat Show perhaps your appreciation and admiration come from knowing these vessels were all crafted by hand. Many of these boats were built or restored by grandfathers and great-grandfathers and have been passed down to the next generation. We not only appreciate the beauty and artful skill these vessels require but their timelessness.

EPA: Reel in a little realism

Serena Carlson certainly hit the nail on the head in her short letter about the EPA speaking at the Magnet School. It seems that more often than not these federal organizations are given free access to young minds in which they will grow up believing that the EPA can do no wrong. I agree with her assessment.

WOLVES: People are the parasites

Puleeeze… enough with the wolves, already. Thank goodness we don’t live on the coast; it would be the whales, dolphins and seals stealing all “our” fresh fish.

VANDALISM: This is protect, serve?

What makes our Police, those who were hired to "protect and serve," feel that they are above the law? When civilians or our property are abused, what can we do as citizens to bring those into accountability to the law they are sworn to uphold? On May 4, 2010 I was visiting the Fernan Rod & Gun Club with a friend of mine when we ran headlong into a joint CDAPD / KCSO live fire exercise. I am a life-member at Fernan Rod & Gun Club and have helped build this range over the past 15 years.

EVANS: For bright future in Cd'A

When I heard Amy Evans was running for a seat on Coeur d’Alene’s City Council, I couldn’t volunteer fast enough to help. Amy is passionate about Coeur d’Alene and exactly the person I want representing me as our city moves forward.

We need to fire all of our politicians or take their benefits away from them.

CHRISTIANS: Stand up against assault

Churches across this nation should take a lesson from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It's time to take our country in another direction.

SCHOOLS: Elect these appointees

I am endorsing Brent Regan and Ann Seddon because I have served side-by-side with them, and have personally seen their unique contributions to the Coeur d’Alene

MILLER: Support this city supporter

Kiki Miller has been a resident for more than 35 years. A Coeur d’Alene High School graduate, she remained here and actively participated in our community to make it the best for everyone who lived, worked and played in beautiful North Idaho. I’ve known Kiki for more than 25 years and have always admired her love and ambitions for supporting our wonderful city.

SHOOTINGS: It's racial warfare

There is a rabid new breed of dissidents in the US today. They not only hate and disobey authority figures — they want to kill them. They are anarchists. Armed insurrection is their strategy. This is not really new however — just escalating.

Chiropractic for weekend warriors

Everyone knows that they need to exercise. The problem in our modern society is that we do not always take the proper time to fit exercise into our daily routine. Being inconsistent with our physical activity can lead to “weekend warrior” injuries. We lift too much weight in the gym, pack all sports activities into two afternoons, cram all our yard work into a few hours, etc.

ELECTION: Give Cruz control

The very future of our constitutionally based republic is at risk in the coming presidential election. The next President will likely nominate several new Supreme Court Justices and this will determine if we stop socialist control or continue on the path of socialist oppression of rights. We are one liberal Supreme Court justice away from losing our constitution. Free Speech: lost if the court goes the way of Canada in punishing pastors for “hate speech” when preaching traditional Christian doctrines. Right to Bear Arms: lost, when a generation of liberal justices chip away at gun rights. Right of Unlawful Seizure: Already going, with recent rulings on use of eminent domain to benefit private business (for the public good?) Right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness: forever gone for full term babies in the womb.

From the ashes, America's heroes arise again

For many of us, the memory of what happened 15 years ago this morning represents a nightmare that will never go away.

Today - Arbor Day - my vote is for trees

I've spent more than 40 years working for the great state Idaho. After all this time, I continue to be amazed by our tremendous natural resources and all they do for the state.

GAY: Not a choice - or crime

I feel compelled to respond to Phil Membury’s letter in which he criticizes Kelly Ferguson for having the courage to accept her son’s realization that he is gay and to support his decision to “not hide in the closet.” Homosexuality occurs biologically and is NOT a choice, and as Kelly wrote, with all the hate and bigotry, “who on Earth would choose to be LGBT?” And being homosexual is NOT committing a crime like Mr. Membury compares it to!
