Lawn care with Living Water

Wow it really rained a lot this spring didn't it? OK that was easy to agree on. Ever notice these days how many things people seem to disagree on? Well here are a few things people usually agree on: Puppies are pretty cute but dog poop has a real down side. By the way when your female dog goes No. 1... well I can't say the other thing in a newspaper. I guess I can since I just said poop.

DOGS: Oppose BSL movements

This letter is in regard to the letter from Jim Mathey on Jan. 21. First, I’d like to say I’m very sorry for what happened to the other letter carrier being attacked. My prayers go out to her. Now on to the reason I’m writing this letter. Mr. Mathey is calling for a BSL (breed-specific legislation) on pit bulls. While I do not own a pit bull, I have had dogs considered dangerous, and also have been on the BSL list. My Rottweiler Bear was the biggest (135 pounds) sweetheart you’d ever meet.

ADVICE: The common-sense dog

I’ve been training dogs for over a decade, and it took me years to figure out that the average dog owner doesn’t want perfect obedience from their dog. In the early part of my career, I spent so much of my time trying to make dogs look flashy, trying to give them that competition look, but I found out again and again that the flashy obedience was impractical for average people who just wanted a better dog.

PARADE: A fine tradition in Cd'A

In regard to Chris Leblanc's letter regarding the closure of Sherman Avenue for the "kids and dogs parade:" I distinctly remember, back in the ‘60s, my cousin and I, with the help of a couple of boxes found behind Runge's Furniture and some paint, turning ourselves into a pair of dice to march in what I recall as the Kiddie Parade. We were quite proud of our creative endeavor and had a lot of fun. The torch has since been passed to two more generations.
