Nonagenarian dancing to 100

DEAR DR. GOTT: I will be 93 this month and have been blessed with good health all my life. My recent medical checkup was good, and everything was normal. However, during the past year, I have noticed my walking has become somewhat laborious and stressful. Even a small incline on the street makes walking more difficult. I have a little dog, and she needs to be walked.

Libraries defend the f8th

This is a good week for Mrs. Language Person, as she is reminded she is not alone during National Library Week. Ah, libraries - those defenders of literary faith, those life-preservers of language. Librarians silently, dutifully and lovingly struggle to keep language and imagination afloat in this stormy sea of deliberate ignorance and apathy.

Dogs and gardening season

With the melting snow comes the nasty deed every dog owner dreads. Layers of poop buried since November by weekly snow storms now reveal their stinky goo, begging to be stepped on by puppy or grandchild and tracked into the house if not immediately picked up and disposed of. Donning shovel and garbage pail, I head to the yard expecting to be there a while.
