MY TURN: An open letter to the community

I’m proud to have served North Idaho College these last six months as I believe it was my civic duty to work on issues affecting our community college. It also included challenges that I believe were unnecessarily detrimental. It is important to set the record straight regarding the slanderous disinformation swirling around North Idaho College.

Programming to be implemented at elementary level

The Coeur d’Alene School Board on Monday approved the adoption of Sources of Strength resources at the elementary level. The vote was split 3-2. Chair Rebecca Smith, Vice Chair Casey Morrisroe and Trustee Heather Tenbrink all voted in favor. Trustees Allie Anderton and Lesli Bjerke cast dissenting votes.

The "Role & Responsibilities of an NIC Trustee," the first in a series of On Point public forums, sponsored by a group of community-minded residents who call themselves DART, is set for 6 p.m. on Oct. 20 at the Family Harding Center, 411 N. 15th St.

NIC to pay more for new insurance coverage

After being dropped by its property-casualty insurer earlier this year, North Idaho College has secured quotes for coverage through a different insurer with significantly higher premiums. The Idaho Risk Management Program is a member-owned carrier created by Idaho local governments to provide property and casualty insurance for public entities.
