NIC: Changing of the guard needed

| October 5, 2022 1:00 AM

You may wonder why the fuss and all the chaos at North Idaho College? Is it the students, the faculty, the new president? No, it’s the governing board of trustees, mainly the two KCRCC precinct committeemen Todd Banducci and Greg McKenzie. These two have served as trustees the longest, yet lack respect, civility and basic knowledge regarding the role of a board member.

As a result of their political stunts and unwillingness to work on behalf of the students, faculty and taxpayers, they have engaged in unneeded lawsuits and have cost NIC millions of dollars. The college is on the verge of losing its accreditation, reputation and insurance. Yet they and the KCRCC’s three newly recruited candidates say these serious issues are fabricated, because they choose to ignore the facts and have no real understanding of the college or community.

KCRCC’s three unknown retired candidates have very shallow roots in Kootenai County with all three newcomers registering to vote within the last two years. Their lack of community investment combined with their loyalty to KCRCC, including Banducci and McKenzie, is a clear indication that if even one of their candidates win on election day, they will re-elect Todd Banducci as board chair and the college will suffer.

The NIC trustee election is symbolic. If just one of these KCRCC newcomers gets elected, they will prove that anyone can be elected to office with KCRCC’s support.

Let’s fix NIC: vote for three candidates you can trust, Pete Broschet, Brad Corkill and Tarie Zimmerman.
