POLITICS: Stand up, speak out
Political narcissism and reckless governance are at last under attack by past presidents and a few daring political leaders. Exclusion, falsehoods and hatred have no place in our democracy. We, as citizens of this great country, must call out objectionable behavior when we see it. No less should be expected of our elected officials regardless of their political agendas. Democracy is a fragile ideal and we as its stewards must be committed to its protection.
STUDENT: Why levy matters
As an eighth-grade student at Timberlake Junior High School, I’m always excited to learn about what’s happening in my school, and I’ve been reading about the upcoming Lakeland School District levy and how it benefits our school.
YOUTH: Military training might help
We seem to be having more and more problems with our young people. Not all of them, of course, but many have no regard for the law, the rights of their fellow citizens, or respect for their elders.

CDA SCHOOL LEVY: Vote yes; it’s not perpetual
I support the updated request by the Coeur d’Alene School District. I had concerns over the “perpetual” aspect of the previous levy request. These concerns were heard and addressed. The district is “listening” and is addressing community concerns.
