NATION: Focus on local needs

Hooray for Navy Seals! Shock at the four human beings that were so callously taken from us all. On the other hand it concern me that there is so little concern for nay dire consequences that the USA might mete out to people that so disregard life that they kill apparently at the blink of an eye.

CONGRESS: Step up for middle class

Corruption and self-serving interests abound in our Congress. You are not working for the interests of the American people, and I tell you that our country’s poor and middle class are in dire straits.              What would YOU do if we were invaded? Where would the funds come from to support a standing army inside the USA? Heck, why do we bother? Because we are angry, and November comes very soon. Remember that.

On Thursday, July 4, I experienced the overwhelming gratitude of North Idahoans when marching with the Coeur d’Alene VFW chapter — in itself such a privilege — the first entry in our Independence Day Parade. Alive on that day and clearly displayed by those along the route, was love of our wonderful country. PLEASE never end your devotion and care for the USA and pass along those ideals to all your family! Thank you from a humble servant.

Pump up the flavor of grilled chicken with Korean Gochujang

For many years, I was hooked on Thai red curry paste, a thick, unctuous seasoning that packs a little heat and a lot of savory deliciousness. It's great whisked into vinaigrettes and marinades, smeared straight onto steaks and chicken, blended into meatloaf and burgers, even pureed into hummus.
