Health: Learn by watching
Health and Wellness presentations and documentaries are something I am always looking for to improve my knowledge around health topics. In my opinion, one of the best ways to really understand a topic related to health and wellness is to listen to someone’s presentation or watch a great documentary. Listening to talks on these subjects, at least for me, gives a little wider understanding than from reading technical textbooks or lengthy articles.

How to stem heroin tide in North Idaho
Maureen Dolan and the Cd’A Press should be commended for her excellent and timely front page article on the topic of the frightening heroin epidemic. In my position as a treatment provider for individuals suffering from addictions, I have witnessed a recent surge in heroin use in northern Idaho. MY TURN: Opinion minus the poison
What a pleasant departure it was to read “My Turn: ‘Sainthood: A Closer Look’” in Friday’s (July 26) Press. A pleasant departure from the vitriolic, uninformed, hate-speech that all too often accompanies a difference of opinion (particularly on the topic of religion) expressed by one writer toward the statements made by another writer — or speaker, or public servant, or political figure, etc. The author, Stephanie Murphy, achieved, at least with this reader, what I hope is what she set out to accomplish. She educated me on a topic about which I had only a superficial understanding, while RESPECTFULLY pointing out what she found to be misperceptions or mischaracterizations on the part of another writer.

How we buy and sell wine
All of the tasting we do in our shop with distributors, winemakers and importers is designed with one purpose, to find the best wines at every budget point for our customers. All the swirling and sniffing and note taking and consideration has that simple goal in mind. So how do we do it? What are our priorities and requirements as we do this “work”?
