KEA sets first 'North Idaho Green Summit'

The first North Idaho Green Summit being put on by the Kootenai Environmental Alliance is scheduled May 18 in Coeur d'Alene.

Emceed by George Sayler, the event is billed as a half-day workshop aimed at exploring the community's environmental status and discovering solutions. It will have "a focus on fostering environmental stewardship and community collaboration."

Topics will include sustainable foods systems, renewable energy, climate adaptation, aquifer protection, responsible recreation, climate change and wastewater management.

There will be short presentations and breakout sessions with panels.

Guest speakers will include Hemene James, Joni Kindwell-Moore, Laura Laumatia and Aiyana James.

The summit is scheduled 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18 at First Presbyterian Church.

Tickets are $15 for individuals and $25 for families. Coffee, pastries and activities for kids will be provided.
