Officials abandoned original bidding process in June
BOISE - State officials negotiating to supply every high school teacher and student with a laptop under Idaho's contested education reforms report that they're still on track to get the program started this fall - even after hitting a snag last month.

Hunting and fishing licenses: Should Idaho's public wildlife be for sale?
For 76 years the Idaho Department of Fish and Game Commission has sought to reduce the role of politics in wildlife management.
ISSUES: And observations
(1) If I lived in California or Oregon, I would sell and move to North Idaho with a pocket full of cash and buy property and drive the price and property tax up so the existing workers, seniors and middle class are just about priced out of being able to keep a home.
VIRUS: Root of the problem
Every day we face risks. That’s why we buy life insurance, auto, home, medical and so forth. With insurance, we pay someone to assume the financial burden of risk.
SPENCER: Part of sordid movement
Larry Spencer, who is fast becoming Rep. Phil Hart's personal political hack, recently submitted his own House complaint against Hart's latest accuser: Rep. Eric Anderson. In it, he alleges that Anderson was guilty of a "conflict of interest" by personally benefiting from legislation dealing with the milfoil eradication program and then, in turn, buying property at depressed prices.
EXCHANGE: New world for Idahoans
This week, Idaho citizens stand to benefit greatly from the launch of the state-run health insurance exchange, officially named, “Your Health Idaho.” The health exchange will offer 161 health insurance plans that we can choose from to buy coverage if we don’t currently have insurance or are dissatisfied with what we have. The exchange has individual health and dental plans, as well as plans for small business.

AR-15: A drug for shooters
Reading Steve Cameron’s article, “Columnist pulls trigger on hot debate” in Wednesday’s, June 13 Press, I shivered remembering many conversations with my drug addict brother.
TEAMWORK: Carousel and Quixote
I’d like to compliment Devin Weeks for her Aug. 30 story about the Coeur d’Alene Carousel. Rita Snyder has worked super hard to get it up and running, as well as Cari Fraser and the entire board and staff. Coeur d’Alene Honda provided free storage for seven years until the building could be built. Thank God for John and Pat Foote buying it for our community and Bud Ford for stepping up to get the building started.
A ton of bullets and guns
It's called a reload raffle: Buy a ticket and win a gun, and maybe win another gun and maybe another and, possibly, a ton of ammunition.
PILLS: Drug companies questioned
I would like to sound off about our pharmaceutical companies and our pharmacies. In the last four months my prescriptions have changed makers four times. With each change, my pills have gotten weaker and weaker. The pharmacies are buying from the cheapest pharmaceutical companies, not caring that they are being made in China. They both only care about the money. No one is thinking about the person taking the medicine.
TRADER JOE'S: Some California dreamin'
California newcomers, before you buy a new North Idaho home, give a moment to consider the hardship you may experience when there is no Trader Joe’s within 10 minutes of your house.
INFLATION: Biden’s fault; and there is no climate crisis
How does it feel to be a local Democrat and having President Biden punish you for being alive and wanting to use your car to go to the local supermarket to buy food?
Today's Ghastly Groaner

CDA PRESS CONSUMER GUY: Big pay promises and nasty meat
Here's an interesting consumer complaint I received this week. This is an old online scheme that comes around again and again disguised differently.
