SHOOTINGS: You can't fix stupid

Doesn’t this just paint a picture of the problem? According to Fox, Lt. Col. Ben Garrett, an Army spokesman, said Mercer was in the service at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, starting on Nov. 5, 2008. But by Dec. 11, 2008, he was discharged for failing to meet the minimum administrative standards. What this means is he couldn’t pass the Army’s screening, including physical and mental health, and the ability to score reasonably on math and reading comprehension, and mind you “multiple-choice” answers.

TARIFFS: Hold on, folks

If you think Trump’s tariffs aren’t going to affect you, think again. The price of a new car could increase $5,800. The cost of washers, dryers and dishwashers already have increased 17 percent and televisions 25 percent. His tariffs on aluminum will even increase the cost of a Coke and a beer.

FREE WILL: ‘Nothing to do with freedom’

Interesting how free will has nothing to do with freedom these days… We watched the nation burn through money buying Chinese fireworks to celebrate independence. We blame Biden for a bad economy, Hunter for a China connection and socialism for insurrection. We call doctors murderers, public servants traitors and slimy politicians saints.

CAMERON: The truth prevails

I would like to congratulate Steve Cameron and The Press for their great work in printing the truth. We never heard of “fake” news until we had a fake president. I also agree with everything Ron Dayton and Mort Kraus said, especially the fact that none of the Trumps have ever served their country. Trump never mentioned anything about the 17 sailors who died in the last two months, never wished a real hero, Senator McCain, good luck with his cancer recovery. Instead, he just badmouthed him for voting no on a lousy health care bill.

IMPEACH: Look at the facts

The House has voted for impeachment along strict party lines; the Senate will undoubtedly vote to acquit along strictly party lines. The public is likewise deeply divided.

U.S.: Negotiate and succeed

In response to Bill McClure’s criticism (Coeur d’Alene Press, Dec. 8) of my article urging America to stop withdrawing from the world’s ongoing affairs. (Dec. 4): On points one, two and four, he substantiates my contention that the U.S. cannot exercise leverage if our country is not a participant in these activities. They may be distasteful as they presently exist, but our absence at any negotiations guarantees they will remain distasteful. We cannot use our formidable power to leverage the issues toward our way if we are not present.
