Is HUD right option for you?

What makes a HUD home a "HUD?" The previous owner defaulted on their FHA insured mortgage and now it has been given back from the bank to the federal government in order to get it sold. At the time they are available and on the market, there is no existing loan owned against the property. HUD, which stands for U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, differs from existing bank-owned properties because they are now in the hands of the federal government. There is not a bank making the decision as a seller. These properties have been cleaned out, had an appraisal completed, and are just waiting for a willing and ready buyer!

The collective sigh

That collective sigh of relief that is audible to most every wine consumer is coming from grape growers and winemakers around the appellations of the western U.S. After two unbelievably tough years of poor quality harvests and extremely low tonnage of usable wine grape stock, it appears at least for now that the 2012 crop is going to be larger than normal, in some cases much larger, and of very good to great quality!

Don’t miss planting garlic this fall

Fall is in the air and soon we’ll be putting our gardens to bed for the winter. But there is still one more vegetable that you could, and should, plant this fall: garlic. Next to home-grown tomatoes, nothing compares to the pungent taste of home-grown garlic. Once you experience just how incredibly fresh and juicy homegrown garlic tastes, you’ll never want to buy garlic from the grocery store again.
