The Thorns North FC 11 Girls Academy soccer team took first place at last weekend's Pend Oreille Cup in Sandpoint in the U12 Gold Bracket. The Thorns defeated the Thorns North FC Sandpoint Strikers 2011G 2-1 on Friday night.  Payton Brennan and Brightyn Gatten each scored a goal. Next the girls played FC Spokane G2011 White Orwick next, winning 2-1. The team's goals came from Brightyn Gatten and Presley Moreau. Their final game against Washington East SC WESC G11 Escobar ended with a score of 6-1. Thorns players Brightyn Gatten and Riley Greene each scored a goal. Presley Moreau and Olivia Hynes both had two goals. Riley Greene and Olivia Hynes each had assists. Thorns keepers Constance Ovendale, MacKenzie Dolan and Sophia Harrington held their opponents to only three goals for the tournament.
