The Coeur d’Alene Crush ’04 won the 12-and-under championship at the recent “Zootown” softball tournament in Missoula. The Crush won all 4 of their pool play games to make the Gold Bracket. The most exciting pool play game was against the Belgrade Wolfpack — the Crush was down 7-0 in the fourth inning, and came back in the bottom of the last inning that time allotted on a go-ahead two-run triple by Brynn Tolzmann for the 8-7 win. In Gold Bracket play, the Crush beat the Helena Blue Thunder 12-2, sparked by Matea Dorame’s two-run over-the-fence homer. The Crush then beat the Spokane Stealth 15-2 to advance to the championship g;ame. In the title game, the Crush led the Kalispell Regulators from Canada 6-1 prior to a lightning delay. After play resumed, the Crush pulled away for a 29-3 victory.
