OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
EMERGENCY: And very happy ending
My name is Todd Brewer and I’ve never written a letter to the newspaper before, but I had a situation take place here at my shop. I don’t remember for sure what Sunday it was, but it happened during our “cold snap”…
CORE: Skeptical isn't paranoid
According to the Cd’A Press, if I am skeptical of another new state standard in education I am simply paranoid.
SHOOTING: Clearly suicide by cop
Ofc. Spencer Mortensen of the Coeur d’Alene Police Department has been absolved in his shooting, and the video from his body worn camera is available to the public. In viewing that video, Ofc. Mortensen was exempla…
WORDS: A tale of two policies
I find it puzzling that using Cheney’s modified first name and the three-letter word for donkey cannot be printed in letters to the editor and comments, yet derogatory, ridiculing, belittling and name-calling can.
CRASH: Hit and run isn't over
I personally would like to thank the Neanderthal who hit my daughter’s vehicle in the parking lot of Jimmy John’s on Thursday, Dec. 5, between 9:30 and 10 p.m. while she was working. This car is her pride and joy.
TAX: Time for fair tax policy
The Fair Tax, HR25, completely replaces our present income tax and gives citizens immediate control of their taxes. It is a tax on consumption, which means you pay taxes only when you choose to consume something ne…
STAMPS: Reflect our nation's heroes
The U.S. Postal Service has issued commemorative stamps to honor World War II veterans who have been awarded the Medal of Honor for courage under battlefield conditions (enemy fire) during World War II. The Medal o…

I am sickened and shocked by the “Act of Killing” article on the front page of the entertainment section Friday, Jan. 17. Tyler Wilson does his best to find some redeeming quality to this film but falls far short. …
DISPUTE: Banter over bill continues
Paul Ciruso’s jan. 21 column “Job 1 is get it right” is good advice that he would do well to follow himself. Mr. Ciruso claims that the 2010 Anti-Outsourcing Bill was not killed in the Senate by Republicans as I st…
SOLDIERS: Time to tell their stories
After three years searching for the stories of Oklahoma soldiers who had fallen overseas, Maysville’s Michael Beach is branching out to look for 1,200 stories around the United States and its territories.
BRIDGEGATE: Impartial probe? Please!
I’m amazed to see the furor about Bridgegate. Two panels of Democratic investigations are in the process of unearthing the complicity of Gov. Chris Christie of this crime. Meanwhile, over one year later, no one has…
WOLVES: Controversy ruled by emotions
I would like to make a comment about the wolf problem in Idaho. There seems to be a large amount of bad information being tossed around.
CORE: It's Beck or bust, people
I read your editorial Wednesday morning; I read it twice. I came to the conclusion that you’re a proponent of the Common Core Curriculum that is being taught or will be taught in schools across our nation. Is that …
