OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
RAPE: The criminal wins
How long do you think the 15-year-old girl who was raped will remember the attack? I’ll bet you it will be longer than 30 days.
HEARING: Hold on a minute
Recently, a hearing was held with the BOCC regarding another proposal for an unneeded multi-home subdivision along the Highway 97 Corridor; one that would have made this deteriorating curvy road even more dangerous…
ELECTORAL: I've changed my mind
A few years ago, I wrote a letter to the editor supporting the elimination of the Electoral College in favor of using the popular vote for our presidential elections. I’ve since reevaluated that position and change…
INDUSTRIES: Must create products
It always troubles me when everything from education to entertainment is called an “industry.” On April 8, the keynote speaker at the Coeur d’Alene Area Economic Development Corporation meeting spoke of “Our Health…
SCHOOLS: Parking for dollars
Following the recent passage of District 271’s $20 million levy, two school buses have been used as full-time sign boards announcing the location of the new elementary school. Oh, I guess they actually needed one o…

BILLS: Paying a high price
“Manipulative” is the word that best describes Rep. Sage Dixon’s actions on Monday, April 8 at the House State Affairs Committee. Dixon introduced four bills that he said “were the same” as No. 1159 anti-initiative…
COLD: Some heartwarming facts
The weatherman says we set records this winter for the longest cold spell in history and for the most snow in February. We also set records at St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho for having our winter warming center op…
INFO: Nothing to fear, folks
Why is there an argument about releasing the president’s income tax information and the Mueller report? There’s a lot of rhetoric on all sides of those issues. Who cares?
CIVILITY: A humble suggestion
People, listen up. There’s a decent and respectful way to disagree with someone who doesn’t share your way of thinking. Name calling doesn’t do it, so grow up and respect the people who don’t agree with you.
