ELECTORAL: I've changed my mind

| April 14, 2019 1:00 AM

A few years ago, I wrote a letter to the editor supporting the elimination of the Electoral College in favor of using the popular vote for our presidential elections. I’ve since reevaluated that position and changed my mind in support of the Electoral College.

With the advent of sanctuary cities, counties and states, and the open rebellion against the “rule of law,” I fear that these defiant entities will allow voting by illegal immigrants in federal elections. Should this occur, and there is no reason to believe it can’t or won’t happen without a federal ID requirement, these heavily populated states along with their millions of illegal voters will control our federal elections from 2020 onward.

Many states are in the process of passing legislation that mandates their Electoral College representatives can only vote for the presidential candidates with the greatest popular vote. Currently they are mainly the liberal sanctuary states that are attempting this end run around the Constitution. If these states are allowed to accomplish their goal, these large states with their illegal voters will control our federal government forever.

Conservatives everywhere must demand before 2020 their federal representatives pass legislation mandating a Federal Identification Card for all future federal elections. The IDs must be issued by the federal government and regulated like passports. The card could be swiped at each polling place and a requirement that the number of cards swiped equal the number of votes cast.
