OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
SCHOOLS: Failure to educate
Debbie Critchfield can’t spell “into?” Probably not her fault, it’s the Coeur d’Alene Press’ proofreaders who graduated from the terrific “public education system.”
DEPLORABLE: And proud of it
WOW! In all the opinion letters I’ve written, I don’t remember getting personal with another writer, with the exception of the Press editor. I’ve tried to make my point without attacking someone because once you do…
CAR D'LANE: The magic bus
We are new residents here in Coeur d’Alene. My family was all from Spokane. A family cabin on Twin Lakes. Spent a lot of time here my whole life. We were so excited to finally get to go and participate in Car d’Lan…
ASSESSED: Racing toward Prop 13
The good people of Treeport are not the only ones with a bone to pick with an assessment office. I feel the Kootenai County assessor’s office has overstepped their bounds and are going to start driving elderly and …
BIDEN: At odds with Bible
At an annual Human Rights Campaign in Ohio, Joe Biden stated in his keynote address that his top legislative priority was to support the LGBTQ. He went on to say that what President Trump is doing is immoral.
FREEDOM: Of (and from) religion
Is it OK to lie, if you do it for Jesus?
PARKING: Enforcement needs work

REIKI: The work of Satan
Hard to believe how the Bible and Christianity have been turned around. The Coeur Voice article June 15th about “healing energy” was so misleading, because healing only comes from God, the One and only God. Reiki s…
KUDOS: Bear cubs and cool cars
I would like to compliment the USDI’s Idaho Fish and Game Department, Coeur d’Alene, for their handling of the bear cub city incursion, allowing him time to find an escape path and leave the city on his own. And th…
NAMES: Can be a warning
What’s in a name? If I changed my name to “God-like” Neumann, would you believe I’m god-liked? (spoiler: don’t). Then why does a political party call itself democratic socialist?
COLUMN: Don't waste wise words
My thanks to Sholeh Patrick for her “Doubt yourself or stagnate” column. It reveals yet another dangerous property of mindless extremism.
CHINA: Better off without it
We are all witnesses to an ongoing crime. The people of Hong Kong are having their freedoms stolen, their human rights stripped away. The Big Brother surveillance state, built by American tech companies, has alread…
TUG: Operator serves purpose
The June 16 Sunday Press had a front-page article about criticism of the one remaining maritime operator by those who don’t want industry on the lake.
