PRIMARY: Sifting through some nasty lies

| March 20, 2024 1:00 AM

Brent Regan has used his column no fewer than seven times since the start of the year to tell North Idaho Republican voters how great the recent Republican caucuses were for them, and how much the average voter was being lied to by the local press.

This is in stark contrast to his stated position of holding a caucus and seeing a caucus as a poorer option compared to an actual primary vote of the constituents of the state.

So, what changed between June 9, 2023, and March 8, 2024? Did Dorothy Moon and other GOP leaders realign the IFF ideology when they realigned the IFF leadership in recent months?

Mr. Regan likes to quote George Orwell’s “1984” as a bogeyman to incite fear and concern amongst his supporters. He references this frequently through multiple past opinion articles he has had published in The Press. Trustworthy candidates don’t need fearmongering to create good policies.

One more point: He recently stated that the KCRCC did not rate and vet the three NIC trustees who have the accreditation of NIC in trouble. While Mike Waggoner was the only one of the three to go through the vetting process (Regan’s words), the other two were most certainly endorsed by the KCRCC. They also endorsed Michael Barnes, who was found to have questionable residency.

The citizens of North Idaho deserve better than to be lied to by Brent Regan and his ilk. I encourage everyone to educate themselves on the candidates prior to the primaries in May and be an informed voter.
