Last weekend, young inventors from North Idaho competed in the North Idaho Regional Invent Idaho Competition. Competitors ranged from first graders to seniors in high school and brought a wide variety of inventions to the table at the North Idaho Competition. Students competed many categories including: adaptations, games and gadgets, Jules Verne, non-working models, working models and best of show. Based on grade level, students competed in grade level divisions for grades one and two, grades three and four, grades five and six, grades seven and eight and grades nine - 12. Invent Idaho invites inventors to attend regional competitions and the winners move on to the state competition. This year, the Invent Idaho State Finals will be at the University of Idaho in Moscow, March 3 - 4. The weekend's winners are as follows who will go on to the state competition are: TOP WINNERS Best of Show Grades 1 - 4: Amiah Van Hill, a first-grader from Hayden Meadows Elementary School, with the Dewey.(decimal) Drone invention. Best of Show Grades 5 - 8: Connor Unruh, a sixth-grader from Sorensen Elementary School, with the iRISE invention. High School Champion: Nicholas Borek, a senior at Post Falls High School, with the Air Blaster invention. People's Choice Award: John Borek, a sixth-grader from Genesis Preparatory Academy, with the Last Defense Decal and Stickers invention.

Between Kingston and Kellogg, I followed a pickup truck traveling at the 75 mph speed limit and observed a golden lab riding in the bed of the truck. My outside temperature gauge registered 33 degrees. A 75 mph wind at 33 degrees creates a wind chill temperature of 13 degrees.
