MY TURN: Time for something different at NIC

NIC needs some major changes. The governance of the college needs to change. Idaho Code needs to change. The board of trustees a political nightmare needs to be abolished. As evident by the taxpayers of Kootenai County, their choices have done nothing but take the college down. If you think things will get better come election time, I have some ocean front property In Arizona to sell you.

North Idaho Republicans PAC announces endorsements

The North Idaho Republicans PAC announced its endorsement of candidates seeking election Nov. 8. The group said, in a news release, that they are “proud to support and endorse a number of qualified conservative candidates …And, unlike the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee, North Idaho Republicans has chosen to publicly support the seven Republicans running for the seven statewide offices.”

Cd'A schools to float two levies

Board agrees to run $25 million/year replacement levy, $5 million/year school plant facilities levy

Levy measures for the Coeur d'Alene School District will be placed on the March 2023 ballot. The school board will move ahead with a request for a $5 million-per-year five-year school plant facilities levy as well as a $25 million-per-year two-year replacement levy that could, if approved by the board at an upcoming meeting, be held in perpetuity.
