I am writing this letter for the benefit of the entire community. For about 15 years now the people running the Lakes Highway District have ignored the welfare of the public by bowing to political pressure from businesses such as Del Taco, Starbucks, Verizon and Kohl’s regarding illegal left-hand turns into their parking lot.

Lake City (16-5, 13-4 IEL) faces Post Falls in the conclusion of a suspended game on Thursday at 3 p.m. The game will resume in the top of the sixth inning. Coeur d’Alene (14-9, 11-7) will be the second seed to the 5A Region 1 tournament, and host an opening round game on Monday at 4 p.m. at Ted Page Field.

Coeur d’Alene (15-5, 13-3) and Lewiston (13-7, 13-3) remain tied for first in the IEL, after Lewiston swept Post Falls on Tuesday. IEL play wraps up on Thursday, with Coeur d’Alene home against Post Falls in a doubleheader, and Lewiston traveling to Lake City (13-7, 11-5) for a pair. Lewiston holds the run-differential tiebreaker over Coeur d'Alene head-to-head, should the two teams end up tied in league.
