Time for immigration endgame

Recently the Press reported on efforts of people in surrounding areas who want to protect their open spaces from the sprawl of tract houses, condos, rental complexes and the related businesses which are headed their way. There was also an article with a vivid photo depicting the terrible plight of thousands of human beings who are trying to escape severe overpopulation and the related poverty, pollution, oppression, wars, etc. They are so desperate to survive the terrors of severe overpopulation that they trust the lives of their families to the open seas, on old overcrowded boats, and to the help of strangers. Another article told of the noble and inspiring efforts of people who have been saving children from tragic lifetimes in severely overpopulated, polluted and oppressed countries.

The weather changes, the market does not

Many have long held that the best time to sell real estate is during the summer months when the weather is nice. Some think that people move more when school is out. Although more people list their properties for sale then, a quick look at a summary of our market statistics shows that sales of residences do not fluctuate greatly from month to month. Further investigation reveals that in the winter months, although our inventory declines, our sales price to listing price actually increases.

Enduring gifts

It is the time of year when we all head out to find the best gift for our favorite clients, friends, family and all those who help us throughout the year — from personal trainers to hair stylists. Many times our thoughts and ideas turn to alcohol or other consumables as a gift. It would be odd for us to advise against buying wine, but one of the keys for any of us is to find a gift that endures. Wine and other consumables, for lack of a better description, get consumed! There are many gifts for the wine enthusiasts on our gift list that last beyond the bottle and will keep you in the forefront of your recipients thoughts throughout the year.

Inside My Turn: America’s soul and CRT

Do souls exist? They are intangible, unquantifiable, and the closest thing that modern science acknowledges is our own body’s individual bioelectric field.

EXCHANGE: Yes, positives exist

I’m writing to give some feedback on Idaho’s Insurance Exchange. As an appointed member of the exchange board of directors, as well as a Representative in the Idaho House (District 28), I feel that I can speak to the various components of our insurance exchange, many of which are very positive.

SPENDING: Start by fixing America

Presidential duties include taking care that the laws be faithfully executed and to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. For decades, our leaders, local, state and federal, have gravely abused this government power. With our country in its current state, our leaders need to focus on "fixing America first."

POWER: Doesn't add up

My husband and I went to visit my parents in another state a few weeks ago. Both my husband and I are experienced in maintenance and construction. Before we left the house, we did everything to save electricity and hence, money. The night before we left, we cleaned out our refrigerator. I was once a refrigeration mechanic. We didn’t unplug it but we got rid of every last item of food and then cleansed it with vinegar and baking soda. Then we turned it off. We unplugged the television. We turned off all the heat sources. My husband turned off the water at the box, not at the valve in our house. Then, we drained all our lines. We turned off the hot-water heater (electric). There was nothing else to run electrically except our battery-operated fire detectors.
