Cameras are used but can't distinguish faces

Bits and pieces
You already know the real estate market is strong, especially if you are trying to buy a house. Sellers know too when they get multiple offers and sell their houses for more than list price. So rather than repeat the same old saw we decided to mix it up a bit this week. Here are excerpts from some of last week’s real estate world:
Nonresident deer and elk tags go on sale Dec. 1
Hunters should expect high demand for tags and long waits
Black Friday warriors: They just keep on shopping
Braving winter's chill pays off for many
For true Black Friday warriors, Thanksgiving wasn't a day off, but a chance to prepare for battle.
Cd'A: Of parks and puzzling priorities
Manicured sidewalks blend into perfectly spaced trees. The famous Centennial Trail cleverly winds around over-priced shops and restaurants for bicyclists and connoisseurs of northwestern scenery. A large blue lake and an open cool sky hide behind newly erected part-time condos. Our narrow roads will appeal to your sense of adventure as they crumble and crack, stretching into dense residential and commercial districts. Here our teachers buy their own books, and our classrooms are filled to the brim.

Brand expansion
In economic times like we are currently experiencing that feature an oversupply of wine and with the exception of the 2010 and 2011 harvests an oversupply of grapes, is when we typically see an expansion in the number of brands even if we do not see an expansion in the number of wineries. It was the huge harvest of 1997 after all that launched the "2 buck chuck" brand and the subsequent craze over the wine.

Childhood joint pain, fainting in the elderly
DEAR DR. GOTT: Regarding your past columns about "growing pains," I had such severe pain in my knees as a young teen that I could barely walk. I was told it was due to a growth spurt and to just learn to live with it. I had no fevers, redness or swelling, but just a few years later was hit with MCTD, including rheumatoid arthritis. I am happy that you told the child's granny to look for other symptoms, such as fever, etc., but I think the pediatrician should have looked into doing some blood work to rule out other possibilities.

The tiny brown-and-white chihuahua sat leashless in his owner’s lap at City Beach Thursday evening, in the gray patch of land beneath the trees where dirt meets sand. He kissed his owner’s sausage fingers and appreciated the extra attention as both dog and man relaxed in the shade, not 30 feet from a sign insisting on its rule that dogs remain leashed.

Vintage matters
As the harvest of 2011 approaches it seems an appropriate time to update wine consumers on how the crop is looking and also on recent releases and tastings from past vintages. Looking back at the appellations from 2007 and 2008 were great back to back years for California, Washington and other appellations of the Inland Northwest. Just about everything we have tried from those years has been delicious, with a slight edge going to 2007.
