ADVERTISING: Advertorial — Natural talent
Many of you have met one of our most talented and hard-working distributor sales people, Kevin Olsonberg. We work with him a lot so naturally he is at many of our winemaker dinners and tastings with the wineries he represents. Many of you also know that he is a talented musician, a rock and roll and country music drummer. Kevin was nominated for a regional Grammy Award not long ago. With his passion and background, we often talk music, all kinds of music. Kevin “grew up” if you will, emulating many of the great jazz drummers, and given the choice I suspect would love to be drumming with a jazz group.
Gas prices take the shirts off our backs
Go to a store that sells clothing and head for the shirt display. Pick a size and color that pleases you. Look at the price tag. If it looks too expensive, you still have other choices. Leave the store and go to another clothing store and look for a shirt there. If you look at a few stores, you will probably find a shirt that will suit your style needs and budget. If you wait a bit a sale will occur somewhere and you can get a better deal on your shirt, and you still have other choices.
The collective sigh
That collective sigh of relief that is audible to most every wine consumer is coming from grape growers and winemakers around the appellations of the western U.S. After two unbelievably tough years of poor quality harvests and extremely low tonnage of usable wine grape stock, it appears at least for now that the 2012 crop is going to be larger than normal, in some cases much larger, and of very good to great quality!

Spring for many homeowners means confronting all the things that have filled up the closets, basement and garage over the past year. As the late comedian George Carlin used to say: "Your house is a pile of stuff with a cover on it."

Preliminary stats may indicate improvement
Although not complete, the preliminary June figures imply some stability may be returning to the local real estate market. Overall, activity remains below last year. May's figures showed sales off 8 percent while June reflects a 9 percent decline, year over year. Still lagging, due in part to the loss of the tax credit and persistent unemployment, prices remain flat in the county. June statistics show the same 6 percent drop this year to date that was reported at the end of May. Cautious that we might have seen further decline, we are pleased to see no further price erosion in Kootenai County.
