At the top of their game

We have been hosting winemaker dinners now for nearly five years, and we hold about one per month. It doesn't seem like that long to us, either. Over that time, we have worked with the best North Idaho has to offer in restaurants and their chefs. All those we have worked with are creative and have put together spectacular meals coupled with exceptional service. We appreciate every one of them, and we look forward to continue working with them all in the future. From time to time over those years, I have written about the restaurants and some of the great meals they have put together. There is one restaurant and their team, though, that is absolutely at the top of their game, and which I never tire of talking about.

Here's why credit trumps debit almost every time

A very savvy, sharp-eyed reader of this column called me and told me that according to Dave Ramsey, a well known personal finance guru, the consumer who uses a debit card has the same protection as a consumer who uses a credit card to make a purchase. We talked for a few minuets and then after getting off the phone, did our own research.

Earth Day 2010

Making green connections

This year, on April 22, people around the globe will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. More than just another half-hearted holiday marked by greeting cards and candy, Earth Day is rooted in a deep sense of environmental responsibility that bridges borders worldwide. It was founded in 1970 and has gained momentum ever since, inspiring awareness and appreciation for the land, air and water we all share. On a global scale, Earth Day ignites improvements in environmental policies and legislation. On a smaller and more personal level, it serves as a reminder that each of us can make one small change today that will contribute to greener generations to come.
